Literary evening: Eva Kovač

The guest is Eva Kovač, a poet and writer who draws thousands of flowers across the west … We expect an exciting evening with poetry and the presentation of the novel Tisoč rož / A Thousand Flowers (Litera Publishing House, 2018). It is moderated by Tonja Jelen.


Literary break-fast, run by the Association for Contemporary Arts X-OP (Društvo za sodobno umetnost X-OP) with partners in the framework of the international cooperation project Other Words / Druge besede, a literary circle for small and minority languages in Europe, is a literary evening hosted by authors from the literary areas that are important both in Slovenia and abroad.


Eva Kovač (1977, Celje) lives in Šentjur, where she also spent her childhood. She graduated with honors from the Celje First Grammar School in 1996. She studied medicine in Ljubljana, then philosophy and sociology at the Faculty of Arts in Maribor, but did not complete her studies. In 2006, she spent five months in India, in the province of Rajasthan, in the town of Jadan. Since her daughter’s birth in 2008, she has been regularly employed in Celje and a regular listener of programs at IC Eksena.
She is a member of the Society for Tolerance and Coexistence Eksena, poet and writer, first prize winner of the national Festival of Young Literature Urška 2004, author of the novel Tri pike / Three dots (2005, JSKD – Javni Sklad za kulturne dejavnosti / Public Fund for Cultural Activities), Sonce zahaja v Celju / The sun sets in Celje (2014, Založba Litera publishing house ) and Tisoč rož / A Thousand Flowers (2018, Litera publishing house).

Literary publications and appearances: literary magazine Hotenja (2005), Nova kolekcija (2008), Literarni nokturno at Radio Slovenia, program ars 3 (2008, 2010 and 2015), co-authorship and co-implementation of the project Poetry with Music by G. Jaklin at the Festival of Love ), at the same festival in 2012 with poetry. In 2015, a guest appearance with the novel Sonce zahaja v Celju / The Sun Sets in Celje in Bitola, Macedonia and in Pula, Croatia, a guest appearance with poetry at the international festival of contemporary poetry Murakon in Sv. Martin na Muri in Croatia (2016). With the co-authored guitar-poetic project Love Affair with Igor Bezget several performances in 2015 and 2016 performance with their next project called Dva / Two. Her poems have been translated into Croatian and Macedonian language. She is the co-author of a guitar-poetry project with music professor and guitarist Uroš Eferl, titled Pesmi & Kitara / Songs & Guitar, moje življenje / My Life … She presented Tisoč rož / A Thousand Flowers in her hometown of Šentjur, in the house of culture in Ruše, in the Antika Bookstore in Celje and at the Celje – Center Gymnasium.
