Literary evening: Cvetka Bevc

Literary break-fast, run by the Association for Contemporary Arts X-OP (Društvo za sodobno umetnost X-OP) with partners in the framework of the international cooperation project Other Words / Druge besede, a literary circle for small and minority languages in Europe, is a literary evening hosted by authors from the literary areas that are important both in Slovenia and abroad. It is moderated by Tonja Jelen.

The first guest of this set will be the versatile artist Cvetka Bevc. Poetry, prose in various lengths, and for all generations is only a brief outline of the author’s rich opus.


Cvetka Bevc (1960) is a poet, writer, and musician. She completed her studies in musicology and comparative literature at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana and continued her education at University College Cork. She is a member of the Slovene Writers’ Association and the editorial board of the Poetikon magazine. She has published over twenty literary works, writes prose, poetry, youth literature, and plays, and is the author of numerous radio plays. She has participated in multiple readings at home and abroad, and selections of her works have been translated into multiple languages. With the novel Potovci, she was among the finalists for the Kresnik Award 2012. In 2014, she received The Silver Pen Award at the International Poetry Festival Slavic Embrace in Varna (Bulgaria). Cvetka Bevc is this year’s winner of the award for the best short story in the magazine Sodobnost.
