Association X-OP’s curator, producer and assistant, Živa Kleindienst, visited the preview, the official opening of the 4th Berliner Herbstsalon and the Your Curator’s Academy event in the scope of this international festival. Under the title DE-HEIMATIZE IT!, the 4. Berliner Herbstsalon brought together a retrospective of visual artists, with an extensive theatre and performance programme, a conference and a Young Curators Academy in order to discuss constructions of identity, nation and belonging from an intersectional feminist perspective. The topi cof the festival in great ways corresponded with that of the Risk Change program.

The visit was a unique opportunity to visit this cultural and interdisciplinary event, especially this edition with the stated conceptual focus. Meeting established and young generation artists such as Sanja Iveković, Candice Breitz, Šejla Kamerić and seeing work by Alfredo Jaar, Yael Bartana, Oliver Ressler, Regina Jose Galinda and many more was of great benefit. Opening event was a special occasion due to the ad hoc performance by Hito Steyerl and phenomenal artistic program.

During the study visit, a meeting with Rene Block took place in his gallery, where he kindly introduced his exceptional curatorial practice, artists with whom he works and art works in his collection. Another meeting was held at the Galerry Tanja Wagner.
