7. 12. 2019
X-OP / KiBela, Ulica kneza Koclja 9, Maribor
Percussionist Nino Mureškić presents his author compositions again. He will perform with a wide range of percussion from various musical traditions: djembe, cajon, darabukka, hang, ring drums, dunun, udu, kalimba, mbira, balafon, Indian board, a variety of sounds, etc.
His music is inspired by the various rhythmic traditions of the world and incorporates traditional forms of African, Arabic, Balkan and Indian music into his original compositions. In the colorfulness of mixed tact modes, odd rhythms, polyrhythms, and improvised play, he virtuously moves along rhythmic structures and eras, extracting melodic upgrades from percussion and weaving his compositions into rounded wholes. The intertwining of rich rhythmic structures, harmony, and melody gives a feeling of timelessness. The compositions are characterized by imagination, a mixture of stormy improvisation and orderly composed forms, colorful sonority, humor, and trance.
When he is joined on stage by others, in various ensembles, duets and trios, instrumental or vocal-instrumental, we notice an extraordinary enthusiasm of group dynamics and bravura playing, which stems from primary, instantaneous, direct interactions between musicians, which we witness when we follow Nino’s concerts.
In more than twenty-five years of his work, he has performed in concerts and recorded a large number of records and CDs with various artists around the world (RTV Big Band, Fool Cool Jazz Orchestra, Carmina Slovenica, Pt. Suresh Talwalkar, Glen Velez, Howard Lewy, Lori Cotler, Bernhard Schimpelsberger, Vasko Atanasovski, Simone Zanchini, Samo Šalomon, Marko Črnčec, Sharat Shrivastava, Gyan Syngh, Igor Bezget, Sagar, Sounds of Slovenia, Dovč – Krmac – Mureškić trio). He recorded the first Slovenian authorial debut on the frame drum – Manas, published by KID KIBLA.
