dance performance: A few minutes in the migrants’ shoes

On Friday, 26th of April at 7 p.m. in MMSU was held a performance by the participants of the dance workshop conducted by the French artist Manon Avram and her colleagues Fanny Avram and Melanie Venino. Dance performance was a part of the art residency held within the project Risk Change.

The starting point of the workshop is the documentary Specters are Haunting Europe by Marie Kourkoute, which comments on attempts to cross the border in Idomena, Greece. Therefore, Manon focused on the situations in stopped motion, like refugees in waiting, standing in line in the blocked mobility, using repetition and desynchronization techniques.

Shoes are used as props, as a symbol of marathon trips of refugees, but also as an object that reveals the living conditions of its owner.
