Bridko Bebič’s traveling cinema presents a musical film project FROM BLACKSMITH TO MINER (50′, Slovenia, April 2018)

The traveling cinema’s creative team – Bratko Bibič, Eduardo Raon, Vid Drašler – created an audio-visual collage of selected segments from five contemporary dance sound films, created by choreographer and dancer Iztok Kovač and produced by EN-KNAP institute, combining all works from 1995 to 2014. Fifty-minute new montage of found moving images and (re) composition of their associated, untied, and re-bound sound recordings were voiced and upgraded by the mentioned musicians with a live vocal-instrumental performance at the premiere performance at the Slovenian Cinematheque on 13 April 2018. Reruns followed on 14 June in Ljubljana (Creative Center Switzerland: EBU meeting Ars Acustica, RTV Slovenia-Radio Slovenia, Ars Program with live radio broadcast) and on 25 August in Maribor (Minorite monastery, a large hall of the Maribor Puppet Theater: Minoriti cinema), pre-event of the Festival Borštnikovo srečanje 2018 & Society for the Development of Film Culture Maribor (GT22)).

The project was co-produced by the Alcedo Institute and the EN-KNAP Institute in cooperation with the Slovenian Cinematheque with the support of SCCA – Institute for Contemporary Art and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia within the 25th anniversary of the EN-KNAP Institute (1993), 10th anniversary of the dance group EnKnapGroup (2007) and the 9th season of their work at the Spanish Fighters Cultural Center (2009).
