Open Call for contributions for Symposium within exhibition Escape
15.10.2018
MMSU / Krešimirova 26c, 51000 Rijeka
The public invitation is open until 15th November 2018.
The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka announces an OPEN CALL for contributions for the symposium Contrasts of Escape which will be held on the 5th December 2018, at the Museum, as the program accompanying Escape exhibition, the third part of the EU project Risk Change.
Among the key issues of the symposium are limitations on today’s mobility and possibilities of escape. Practitioners and theoreticians within different fields are invited to held presentations (up to 30 minutes). The presentations should refer to different sorts of escapes, as potential ways of survival, where elusion and circumvention of rules and procedures are completely normal. The symposium thematizes escape in a wide range of its possibilities, forms and limits, encountering existential, physical, imaginary and massive acts of escape as the attempts of obstructing the control of escape. The symposium examines escape as a necessity and choice, but also as a privilege in relation to society’s ways of controlling escape, particularly in European space.
The public invitation is open until 15th November 2018. The contributions will be chosen by MMSU curators Ksenija Orelj, Sabina Salamon, Kora Girin and Marina Tkalčić.
The applicants can apply by e-mail at marina.tkalcic@mmsu.hr with the subject ‘Escape’.
The fee is 1.500,00 kuna net per participant with additional funds for travel expenses. The accommodation will be secured by the MMSU.
